Two-time CMA Award winner Gretchen Wilson will kick off
2009 CMA Music Festival on the Daytime Stage at
Riverfront Park on Thursday, June 11 (10:00 AM/CT). Known for
her energetic performance, Gretchen will rev up the non-stop
four-day party, taking place in Downtown Nashville through
Sunday, June 14.
Sony
Nashville recording artist Gretchen Wilson will release her
fourth studio album later this year. The 2005 CMA Female Vocalist of
the Year Award winner has racked up numerous hits, including "Here
for the Party," "When I Think About Cheatin'," "Homewrecker,"
"All Jacked Up," "California Girls," "Come
to Bed," and her signature hit "Redneck Woman."
After becoming an inspiration to millions for returning to high school
and receiving her General Education Development (G.E.D.) diploma,
Gretchen recently testified in front of Congress about the importance of
funding adult education.
Love and Theft, John Michael Montgomery, and Craig
Morgan have also been added to the Riverfront lineup. In

the sloping bank of the Cumberland River. The concerts are fun in the

Be instrumental in the life of a child and donate your long-forgotten, gently-used band instruments to a deserving Metro music program during CMA Music Festival. The Nashville Alliance for Public Education will be collecting instruments in the free Dr Pepper®-McDonalds® Family Zone in the Hall of Fame Park during the Festival, Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14.
The instruments will supplement the thousands of new instruments already purchased by CMA with funds from CMA Music Festival. To date, CMA had donated more than $2 million to support music education in Metro Nashville Public Schools on behalf of the artists who perform at the Festival for free through a partnership with the Nashville Alliance known as "Keep the Music Playing."
Thursday,
June 11 (2:00-3:00 PM) Valory Music artist Jimmy Wayne
will be on hand to help the volunteer Metro Schools band
directors and music students collect instruments.
As an added incentive, McDonald's is offering a coupon for a free Extra Value Meal for the first 500 donations received in the Family Zone. The Alliance will also provide forms so donors can receive tax credit for their donation. Only band instruments in good working condition will be accepted. No guitars, please.
Little Big Town and Josh Turner are the latest artists to be added to the performance lineup for the Nightly Concerts on the VAULTTM Concert Stage at LP Field. The four-day festival takes place Thursday through Sunday, June 11-14, in Downtown Nashville.
Karen Fairchild,
Kimberly Schlapman, Philip Sweet, and Jimi Westbrook formed
Little Big Town in 1998. Since then, the foursome has achieved hit singles such as "Boondocks" and "A Little More You," Platinum album sales, six
CMA Award nominations, and tours with some of the biggest names in music ranging from
Kenny Chesney to John Mellencamp.
Their most recent album is A Place to Land. Little Big Town is currently in the studio working on a new album.
Josh Turner debuted with a splash in 2003 with the title cut of his debut album,
Long Black Train. Since then, the multi-Platinum selling artist has become a radio favorite with hit singles including "Your Man" and "Would You Go With Me." The five-time
CMA Award nominee and Grand Ole Opry member's most recent album is
Everything is Fine.
"Rascal Flatts remains one of today's great musical entertainers and we are
thrilled to have them at CMA Music Festival," said Tammy
Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. "We're also excited to
welcome Darius Rucker to our event for
the first time, and to welcome back Wynonna and Naomi. We know our
attendees are going to have a fantastic time."
After winning the CMA Horizon Award in 2002, Rascal Flatts has gone on to win the CMA Vocal Group of the Year Award for six consecutive years (2003-2008). The talented trio of Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus, and Joe Don Rooney has sold nearly 20 million albums, scored 10 No.1 singles, and 18 Top 10 hits since launching their career in 2000. Their newest album Unstoppable debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart.
Country
Music fans welcomed Darius Rucker with open arms during the past year.
He released his debut solo album Learn to Live, which spawned
two No. 1 singles (so far): "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" and "It
Won't Be Like This For Long." After touring earlier this year with Brad
Paisley, Rucker will soon hit the road with Rascal Flatts. Rucker first
came to prominence as the lead vocalist and songwriter for the pop group
Hootie & The Blowfish, whose 1994 debut, Cracked Rear View,
sold more than 16 million copies to become one of the best-selling
albums in history. Rucker has found a new home in the Country format and
intends to continue recording and releasing records to Country radio.
This
year marks the 25th anniversary of a superstar performer with
a name and a voice that is instantly recognizable around the world,
Wynonna. She has sold more than 10 million albums since launching her
solo career in 1992. Prior to that as a member of The Judds with her
mother Naomi Judd, she sold more than 20 million albums
and received nine CMA Awards. Wynonna recently released her seventh solo
studio album, Sing: Chapter 1, an eclectic assortment of
standards paying homage to all the different genres and songs that have
formed the soundtrack to her life.
Artists currently scheduled to appear at LP Field include (in alphabetical order):

The 2009 CMA Music Festival benefits music education in Music City. CMA, in a partnership with the Nashville Alliance for Public Education, has donated $2,245,421 to further music education programs for the more than 75,000 children in Metro Nashville Public Schools. The philanthropic program, aptly titled "Keep the Music Playing," was founded in 2005 as a way for the CMA Music Festival and its participating artists to give back to the community.
