With the CMA Music Festival just a few months away, the first wave of artists
announced for the event suggests it will be a strong lineup of performances.
Faith Hill has committed to sing during the four-day run, June 5-8, marking
the first time she's appeared since 1998.
In addition, Actor and musical innovator Dwight Yoakam, who last performed
at the Festival in 1988 alongside Buck Owens at the Nashville Fairgrounds.
Also set for the event are Sixteen time CMA Award
winner and multi-Platinum selling Country star, Alan Jackson, (Reigning
CMA Female Vocalist of the Year Carrie Underwood, who has performed
at the Festival every year since being crowned American Idol in 2005.), Taylor
Swift (reigning CMA Horizon Award winner) , Sugarland (reigning
CMA vocal duo of the year), Miranda Lambert, Josh Turner, Kellie Pickler,
Festival favorite and CMA Horizon Award Nominee Rodney Atkins, Jewel
(making her CMA Music Festival debut) and And, Lady Antebellum, making
their first appearance in the Nightly Concerts at LP Field.
Formerly known as Fan Fair, the CMA Music Festival features nightly concerts
at Nashville's LP Field, the home of the Tennessee Titans, plus smaller shows
in several venues downtown and exhibit booths where fans can meet many of
country's stars and secure photos and autographs.
In addition to nightly concerts and daily autograph sessions, festivities include non-stop music during the day, shopping and lifestyle exhibits, CMA Celebrity Close Up sessions, competitions in the Chevy Sports Zone and after-hours activities in the clubs and bars around downtown Nashville. Half the net proceeds from the festival are donated to the "Keep the Music Playing" charity campaign, which supports music education in metro Nashville's public school system. To date, the CMA has donated more than $1 million to the cause, according to a press release.
Last year,
the CMA Music Festival drew a record-setting 191,000 fans from all over the
world and featured more than
400 artists and celebrities, 100 hours of concerts and 35 hours of autograph
signings.
